![]() ![]() ![]() I questioned why Serafina's Pa kept her hidden and why they lived in the basement of the Biltmore Estate. In chapter 2, I was questioning who the man in the black cloak is and what had he done with the little girl (Clara). Specifically, who is Serafina and what happened to her mom. Shannon says, " The suspense of the text left me questioning the entire plot of the story. Why does he encourage her to chase rats? Why are her eyes yellow? Who are her parents? Who is the man with the black cloak? Are the children he attacks dead or hidden? This book is a mystery/fantasy book so there were plenty of questions to ask." Who is this girl Serafina and why in the world is she chasing rats? Why does her dad keep Serafina in hiding? As the book goes on more questions pop up that has the reader confused. Jennifer says, " Immediately this book has me asking questions. ![]() When I made a connection to a question I had, I understood a little bit more about what was going on." All these questions compelled me to read further to find the answers. I wondered why was Serefina found in the woods. I questioned everything to analyze and figure out what was going on.I wondered why the Man in the Black Cloak took children. ![]() Misty says, " I used Questioning throughout the book. ![]()
